Utah MEAT up with Kim Howerton

Utah Quarterly Keto MEAT-up (Q2 2023)

This month we are very pleased to have Kim Howerton with us again (she spoke at the 2022 Keto Salt Lake event). Kim Howerton is a Health Coach who specializes in weight loss for the Keto community. Her own transformation journey came with many bumps in the road, and she now helps others navigate the tricky parts.

The free live stream is scheduled to start at 7:30pm Eastern/4:30pm Pacific: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvjBvwOhHSw

We started the Keto Salt Lake conference to bring speakers to our local community but lately, we’ve thought that a 2-day conference is not the best way to accomplish our goals. From 2017-2020, we hosted a monthly keto “MEAT-up” – we’ve been hesitant to start it back up again with all the restrictions and such, but for now, that all seems to be less concerning to many people. So we’re going to bring back the meat-ups with an enhanced format.

We will be doing the meat-ups on a quarterly basis, at least initially. We will be bringing in a speaker (or 2 if you’re lucky!) to talk to the attendees. Some will be relatively local, and some will be from far away, but they’re going to be awesome.

With most conferences, there are several presentations/talks from different speakers that come at you in rapid succession. We feel that this new format will give the attendees the ability to really focus on the specific message, and give attendees the option to maybe even talk one-on-one with the speaker while we’re all hanging around eating meat (we did mention SEVERAL times that it’s a MEAT-up).

Speaking of MEAT – I usually make Keto Chow sponsor some kind of meat for everyone to have. In the past, many of the attendees have enjoyed bringing fun keto/low carb/carnivore recipes to share with their friends.

I’m planning to set up a camera and live stream/record the presentations so that people far and wide can also enjoy them, again: for free (and stress-free-ish).

We’re hoping that the quality of the speakers, and the interval between the meetings, will make the meat-ups something special that people will want to make time for. I don’t know if it’ll be enough for people to want to travel across the country to attend but they can at least connect up and watch it with us.

So, if you are in the Salt Lake area (well, Draper, to be specific) or are willing to travel a bit, come join us. It’s going to be great.

I’m back to taking things “on the road.” The first event is October 8-9, 2022, in Greensboro, NC. This will be an intimate, elbow-to-elbow, fun weekend. We’ll be hanging out with each as well as with three world experts on the ketogenic protocol. Seriously, the experts! You can chat one-on-one with Jackie Eberstein, Dr. Eric Westman, and the brilliant Amy Berger.

Sunday’s main event will be a cookout at the newest, largest shelter at Greensboro’s Country Park. In addition to our day together, there are many diversions at the park: The Natural Science Center, a new carousel, zip-line, pedal boats, walking trails, and an off-leash bark park. Everything is planned to relax, laugh, meet new people, and have “up close and personal” time with some of my smart friends. I look forward to seeing you all! ?

Ketofest 2022 is a food and science festival celebrating the low-carb lifestyle taking place in New London, CT July 15th and 16th.

About this event

 Ketofest 2022! image

Ketofest 2022 is hosted by Carl Franklin and Richard Morris from the 2 Keto Dudes podcast. There have been three previous Ketofests in 2017, 2018, and 2019.

In the past, Ketofest was spread out over two days and all over the town. This year, we’re packing everything into Saturday, July 16th, with a VIP party on Friday the 15th. All of the events will be at RD86 Space.

Cooking Demos and Tastings

Keto cooking demos with tastings have always been a part of Ketofest and this year is no different.

 Ketofest 2022! image

If you can’t find a space up close, you can watch on TV monitors everywhere. You can also watch on your laptop, phone, or another mobile device. Everyone can get a taste! There’s always something yummy being served.

Street Party!

This year, we’re closing the street outside of RD86 for an outdoor barbeque (brisket and ribs!), a live band, and plenty of places to sit, eat, and mingle.

Expert Talks

It wouldn’t be Ketofest without expert presentations on various keto-related subjects.

 Ketofest 2022! image

Talks will be presented upstairs in the RD86 loft. Space in the loft is limited to 50, and you can only attend in-person if you purchase a VIP ticket. However, all the talks will be streamed to TVs everywhere on the property, and you can watch them on your personal device as well.

After each talk, the speaker will come down to the street level to answer questions.

Wine Tastings

Right around the corner from RD86, Thames River Winery will be doing wine tastings on Friday and Saturday.

Local Restaurants

Local restaurants like Hot Rods Cafe are hip to keto and will be offering ketogenic fare all weekend.

Tickets

We are offering three levels of tickets: All-Access PassGeneral Admission, and Live Stream Only.

Only the All-Access Pass holders are allowed to see the talks in person due to space restrictions, and there are only 50 of them. Everyone will be able to watch the talks on TV monitors, and the speakers will be available for Q&A after their talks. The speakers will also be around all day, so chances are that you can catch them in a one-on-one conversation. VIP tickets are $350.

General Admission ticket holders get access to the entire event except for the VIP party on Friday night and in-person talks (see above). We have 250 of these available, and the cost is $200.

Live Stream Only ticket holders can watch the live stream, which will include talks, cooking demos, and a roaming camera. We have a virtually unlimited number of these tickets, and the cost is $50.

Restrictions and Refund Policy

We are requiring proof of COVID vaccination at the event. If you do not show satisfactory proof of vaccination, you will be turned away, and your ticket fee will not be refunded.

Up until two weeks before the event, if unforeseen circumstances require us to cancel it, your ticket fee will be refunded.
