Who is Debbie Potts?

With the passion and mission to ‘Train WHOLE Athlete” from the Inside Out, Debbie Potts has been helping many people achieve optimal health for over 25 years through her unique “The WHOLESTIC Method” Coaching program. She has been a fitness studio owner, top personal trainer, group exercise instructor, triathlon coach, run coach, podcaster, speaker and book author.

Debbie started racing Ironman triathlons on and off until Ironman Hawaii 2012 then in March 2013, her racing career quickly came to a halt as she experienced severe “adrenal exhaustion” or HPA-Axis Dysfunction … really chronic fatigue that lead to “METABOLIC CHAOS”. After participating in 15 Ironman triathlons and qualifying for five Ironman Hawaii World Championships, she had to cancel her racing schedule in 2013 – and hasn’t been able to get her body to race again. Debbie shared her personal journey in her book “LIFE IS NOT A RACE”- as she was a low-carb fat adapted athlete who did fasted workouts, trained by MAF heart rates and metabolically efficient but she lived with chronic stress that broke her from the inside out. Now Debbie is on a mission to coach athletes how to become fat adapted with “The WHOLESTIC Method” elements and program.

As a coach, Debbie has been educated and trained over the years as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP), Kion Coach (Ben Greenfield program), CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach, USA Triathlon Coach, NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), Metabolic Efficiency coach, Natural Running coach, Yoga, STOTT Pilates Mat, DNAFit Coach and soon a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN). She is a host of “The WHOLE Athlete” podcast (orginally FIT FAT FAST Podcast) as well as the author of the bestseller ‘LIFE IS NOT A RACE’ and ‘The WHOLESTIC Method Manual & Workbook’.

IDM Fasting Retreat

IDM Fasting Retreat
Kailua Kona, Hawai’i — August 11-August 18

Our next Hawai’ian Fasting Retreat!
Polish your fasting skills in one of the most beautiful places on the planet.

Are you new to fasting? Or, maybe you’re looking for an incredible, relaxing environment where you can build on your existing skills and join others with the same goals?

We continue to hear from our clients and community that they’re looking for an opportunity to fast with a group of like-minded folks and IDM staff. So, IDM is pleased to be hosting another fasting retreat!

In mid August, IDM will be hosting its second fasting retreat in Kailua Kona, Hawai’i!

Kailua Kona is a beautiful area on the west coast of the Big Island of Hawai’i. Retreat guests will be guided through a four-day water fast in a spacious, private home, surrounded by the beauty of an incredible Pacific island. IDM Coach Terri Lance will be facilitating, supporting, and educating guests in this group fasting experience.

The retreat begins on Sunday, August 11, 2019 and concludes the morning of Sunday, August 18, 2019.

After arrival on Hawai’i and settling into the retreat house, guests will have time to acclimate, and will be well fed (low carbohydrate, moderate protein and healthy fat meals) prior to beginning the fast.

The retreat guests will then be guided in navigating an extended fast. Fasting information will be shared in order for guests to understand the underlying knowledge of the process and benefits of fasting. With a focus on knowledge and self-care practices, the group will engage in a week of learning and relaxing and exploring aspects of the island. At the conclusion of the four day fast, guests will then be offered healthy options to break their fast and begin feasting together again as they complete their retreat stay.

While basking in this beautiful and healing environment, guests will have time to rest, focus on self-care, and engage in educational experiences about fasting and better health. All are invited to join the group in yoga or meditation each morning to begin their days centered and with healing intentions. And each guest will be offered two massages by a massage therapist as part of their self-care experience. There will also be opportunities to see some of the natural wonder of the island – beaches, volcano viewing and agricultural tours.

This Hawai’ian retreat includes:

  • All meals on eating days, prepared and served by a professional catering/personal chef service. Coffee, tea, water and bone broth for assistance during both the fasting and non-fasting portions of the retreat.
  • All transportation between the airport and the retreat location, as well as for all retreat excursions on the island.
  • All professional wellness offerings – such as massages and yoga sessions.

Please note that there is no need to have a rental car during the retreat.

Is this retreat for you?

Do you have:

  • A good grasp of the basics of fasting and what’s involved
  • A strong desire to participate and share in group activities
  • A willingness to submit to an evidence-based process, led by an IDM team that demands commitment and honesty
  • The determination to adhere to services and plans recommended by the IDM team
  • The common sense to stop fasting and to eat if you feel unwell for any reason

We believe an open mind and a willingness to participate is instrumental when it comes to achieving health and weight loss goals – and it’s our honour to share this time together, as you navigate a fast and focus on nurturing your mind and body!

Want more details?

We found in our first retreat that having a small group of retreat guests created a very supportive and attentive environment for all guests. We also believe in hosting our fasting retreats in a private setting rather than a hotel, therefore we have limited space available. Upon completing the intake questionnaire, you will be asked to complete a brief online meeting with Terri Lance to answer any questions you have about attending the retreat and for the two of you to discuss how the retreat might fit with your current health and goals.

Although there is limited space available for this event, in the future we’ll be developing programs to fit a wide array of needs and interests – so continue to watch this space!

Hope to see you soon to experience this fasting retreat with us! Aloha!
